Overview

Pellings were appointed as Architects, Project Managers, Cost Consultants and CDM Co-ordinators in August 2008 to procure a new Yacht Club facility for Erith Yacht Club.

Funding for the club is from 4 sources, Homes & Communites Agency, Sport England , Cory Environmental Trust and The Royal Yachting Assocoation.

Planning was achieved in 2009 with completion on time in May 2010.

As cost and time were critical, Pellings selected the JCT Design & Build 2005 Form of Contract and immediately commenced work on preparation of the Employers Requirements. Following detailed discussions with the Employer, the needs of the Yacht Club from both training and Yacht Club member perspectives had changed since an earlier exercise undertaken in 2005.

Pellings were therefore appointed as Architects and Planning Consultants to substantially redesign the club including raising it 3m above ground level to avoid possible water damage due to climate change. The planning decision was achieved in March 2009.

The facility has been designed to be fully DDA compliant for disabled sailors, and will enable the club to become the Thames' premier sailing venuue and ensure Bexley has a legacy following the 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games.
