Overview

"Working with Pellings has been a great success from our point of view and we are absolutely delighted with our new buildings"
Peter Jones - Principal

The master planning exercise established the replacement of temporary hutted accommodation with new teaching facilities, the re-provision of an Engineering Faculty, and the creation of a new Business Centre and Learning Resource Centre as part of a new Landmark Building.

The focal point of the Phase I development is a large glazed rotunda which forms the backdrop for a new social courtyard space and a clear new entrance for the entire campus. Significantly, the rotunda is designed to act as a 'beacon' after dark, creating a strong visual link with the local community.

Phase II, which was completed in early 2010, not only delivers new engineering workshops and teaching facilities, but creates very high quality public spaces linking components of the campus.

The proposals seek to complement and enhance qualities of the existing teaching block which includes strong visual references to the Bauhaus design movement. The new buildings work in harmony with the external spaces to deliver a modern high quality commercial environment reflecting the innovative curriculum delivered by the college.
