Overview

Pellings have been providing a total team package to deliver a new Public Service Centre and Staff Decant Project for London Borough of Greenwich, spearheading the 'New Working Ethos' as part of a phased programme of moves within the Greenwich Portfolio.

The project includes a Public Service Centre to provide a comprehensive range of services to over 400 public visitors per day, a Business Centre and Staff Cafe and an evolving Staff Decent programme for over 800 staff to date.

The approach to the open plan design was part of the Greenwich new way forward. They wanted to introduce a new way of working for the staff on the upper floors, with breakout meeting areas. This idea was to be taken forward in the public service centre where new approaches to dealing with the public in a less confrontational environment with less psychological and physical barriers. This was very important for services such as Financial Support, Housing and Social Services.

Due to the success of the project, Pellings have been asked to design a further phase, increasing the capacity for public visitors by 25%.

The ability to create a welcoming, unintimidating environment for "hard to reach" members of the community, has been key to the success of this project.
