Project Remodelling of 21 storey student accommodation tower
Site Marylebone
Value £7.4m

Overview

Pellings were appointed in 2007 to develop a feasibility design through to completion, working with Mulalley & Co as part of their Partnering Framework with University of Westminster.

The project comprises the complete refurbishment of the existing residential tower building within the open courtyard behind the main teaching block on Marylebone Road together with the provision of a new podium level entrance, reception and common room facility giving secure access to floors of student accommodation.

New finishes and services are fitted throughout to accommodate 240 students based on the "cluster flat" concept.

Two flats are provided per floor, each consisting of 6 beds in mainly single room arrangements, with dedicated kitchens. Bedrooms have en-suite prefabricated bathroom pods.

The lower two floors are specifically designed and fitted out for disabled students and half have en-suite shower rooms. Colour schemes are chosen to assist visually impaired students.
