Pellings were appointed by London Borough of Greenwich to refurbish four libraries within the Borough and transform their interiors into modern and inviting environments.
In addition to Blackheath Library the programme includes: West Greenwich, Plumstead, and New Eltham Libary.
The refurbishment of the Library was part of the overall investment in public services and regeneration of the local area.
Blackheath library has undergone an extensive refurbishment, which has included Architectural and Interior Design, changes to the main façade including relocating the main entrance and improvements to the glazing to include inspirational graphic branding.
The interior space has been re-planned to allow for a more open feel, with a relaxing and quiet seated area along the sunny window elevation for reading and meeting.
Colours have been selected that specifically highlight the modern feel of the new library and bespoke artwork has been included to enhance the spaces.
A Teen area and IT Study space has been created to offer a greater opportunity for use by young people in the community.
