Overview
Pellings were appointed as lead design consultants for the procurement of this multi-million pound construction project which was opened by HRH the Princess Royal.
The design treatment of the exterior facade with the refurbishment of external Portland stone, Travertine marble and Granite stone has greatly enhanced the existing buildings features and emphasised its contemporary look. The areas of works included the demolition and clearance of all internal walls, ceilings, floor finishes throughout the building and significant reconstruction.
The project also involved the construction of one additional storey for plant room fittings, finished with composite panel system to compliment the stone facade and installation of new services throughout involving flood wiring installation, extensive air conditioning systems for specific building function i.e. cell accommodation, tape record interview room, office accommodation.
A supplementary four pipe fan coil perimeter system to temper the internal environment has necessitated a high degree of service layers and risers involving complex co-ordination between Design Team Members.
