Project Conversion of Grade II Listed building back to family dwelling
Site London
Value £700k

Overview

The 6 storey Grade II Listed building is part of the Smiths Charity Estate which comprises 600 houses and is located off the Brompton Road.

The brief was to convert the house back to a single family dwelling to include six bedrooms, four with en suite facilities, a dining hall, large reception room, family room and staff accommodation.

The House had been used for many years as offices and had been subdivided into small areas, with many of the principal rooms losing their original form.

Many features such as the plaster cornices and panelling had been damaged by the partitions and some fireplaces had been removed.

The property was soon let after completion for a substantial rent achieving a record rent for this location.

In the main entrance hall original Victorian floor tiling was carefully renovated. Original features were accurately reinstated such as the stairwell banisters.

The main kitchen features black granite worktops, maple shaker units and dressed limestone flooring, typical of the sympathetic approach to blending original features with overtly modern materials.
