Pellings have an established track record in the refurbishment of modernist Icons. With a specialist team of surveyors and architects who are accredited in conservation by the RICS and Architectural Association, we are well placed to deal with the sensitive improvements and structural repairs associated with buildings of this nature. Our particular skills enable us to manage resident consultation effectively, a key component of successfully delivering large listed residential projects.

Kensal House

Kensal House was the first shuttered concrete building designed by E.Maxwell Fry & Elizabeth Denby in the mid 1930's. It was designed to showcase the modern home in social housing as was built by the Gaslight & Coke Company, to demonstrate how homes could be lit and heated with gas and coke.

Pellings have been involved with Kensal House since the 1980s. We were appointed as Architects and Contract Administrators to compile a specification for external concrete repairs, decorations, roof renewal, kitchen renewal and installation of new double glazed units. As the building was Grade II Listed, close consultation with English Heritage was imperative to ensure all details were approved prior to works commencing on site.

Trellick Tower

Trellick Tower is a Grade II Listed building, designed by Erno Goldfinger, and was in need of external repairs and decoration. At 31 Storeys, it is Europe's tallest council block.

Pellings undertook a survey of Trellick Tower before preparing a specification for external decorations and feasibility for overall improvement works.
