Pellings were appointed by the British Red Cross to work on an Emergency Resource Centre situated in Mitcham that would provide services in the event of a major disaster in the City.
The Scheme involved the creation of clerical, staff and training accommodation within an existing industrial unit, with the remaining part of the internal area being used to park and service Ambulances.
Pellings' role was to prepare full design, specification & tender drawings and provide contract administration services. Fire protection was a particular consideration in terms of both the building forming part of a terrace (shared Party Walls) and the use of vehicles within a building.
Pellings was also instructed on a similar Centre in Enfield, North London.
